TE KURA O TE PIKI TE HAUORA

Leading the Revitalisation of Te Reo Māori!

Welcome to Piki Te Hauora!

The philosophy that underpins our kaupapa is that of a ‘Waka’.

Our goal is to move in the same direction in unison, to achieve greater results and arrive at the destination as one. We believe that the more we come together and the more we move together, the greater the outcome for everyone.

For this reason, we have named our courses to resemble the stepping stones to learning how to make our waka move together.

Welcome to our waka, we hope that you feel safe, nurtured and we all reach distant horizons together.

He Waka Eke Noa - We are all in this together!

Your Journey Begins Here

We believe that learning Te Reo Māori is a life long journey and that there is no such thing as too late or too early to take your first paddle.

Here at Piki Te Hauora we pride ourselves on maintaining the essence of the Māori language while offering a new/modern approach to the way it can be delivered (live online classes, interactive online communities, and online tools/resources). This approach allows us to successfully reach substantially more people from all over the world that have a genuine passion to learn Te Reo Māori.

Our courses have been created by second language learners for second language learners, so you can take confidence in the fact we know exactly how you feel commencing this life changing journey from te timatanga/the beginning.

“Ki te kotahi te kākaho, ka whati: ki te kāpuia, e kore e whati”

When we stand alone we are vulnerable, but together we are unbreakable

-Kīngi Tāwhiao

One of our biggest passions here at Piki Te Hauora is to bring Māori from all over the world together, to not only be a part of the revitalisation of our reo, but to be a part of a community that embodies the core values of Te Ao Māori.

By coming together with common goals to connect, to grow, to create and to learn, we are able to accept each other’s differences and overcome the ideals that outside influences use to indoctrinate our people.

“I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things.”

By accepting each other’s differences we are able to recognise each other’s strengths. Combining our strengths makes us unbreakable.
